LAKESHORE EAST

LAKESHORE EAST

Widely known as Lakeshore East to locals, is one of the Chicago Park District’s most popular parks. Located just a bit north of Millennium Park, the 4.2-acre park serves as a green oasis inside of countless high-rises in the Lakeshore East area. Designed to provide an outdoor space for occupants of new high-rises such as the Shoreham and the Aqua, the park offers up a dog-friendly area, child’s playground, and an interactive water feature. J.M. Irrigation was most interested in the area’s many gardens and large flat open grass regions.

The park’s irrigation system is constructed entirely of PVC pipe and uses both large turf rotors and small rotors along with spray heads to irrigate the turf. There also separate zones that specifically irrigate the plantings. Coordination was required to successfully install a system that would reach all the intensive plantings.

The park itself maximizes city water that is pumped up through a custom designed pump station to enable proper irrigation pressure. That system is then looped around to guarantee the maintenance of proper irrigation.

Unique to this irrigation system are Rainbird products—which have proven to be reliable and dependable.
